Nodwin Gaming Announces ‘SpaceFest’

A unique festival dedicated to space, science, and science fiction—organized for the first time in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra

Nodwin Gaming, a global leader in new-age entertainment, gaming, and e-sports, announced the launch of ‘SpaceFest’ at a press conference held at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai. Organized in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, this event marks one of India’s first large-scale festivals dedicated to space, science, innovation, and space-themed pop culture. The festival aims to bring knowledge and entertainment together on a single platform.

Several dignitaries attended the press conference, including Dr. Uday Samant, Hon. Minister of Industries, Investment, and Services; Dr. P. Anbalagan (IAS), Principal Secretary, Industries, Investment, and Services Department, Government of Maharashtra; Mr. Deependra Singh Kushwah (IAS), CEO of MIDC Mumbai; Ms. Aarti Harbhajanka, Co-founder and Managing Director of Primus Partners India; and Mr. Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director of Nodwin Gaming, who conceptualized the IP.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s space economy and organized in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra, ‘SpaceFest’ aims to become a pivotal platform for fostering space research, innovation, and new discoveries. Through this event, space-tech startups from Maharashtra will gain the opportunity to showcase their new technologies and innovations, forge new partnerships, and connect with major global conglomerates and investors.

*Chief Guest Mr.  Uday Samant stated at a press conference, "For me, the mention of 'space' used to evoke memories of missions like Chandrayaan and the achievements of ISRO and NASA. However, the 'Space Fest' made me realize the immense curiosity and potential that exists among students and the youth of India regarding this sector. I am proud that Maharashtra is taking the lead in this initiative. I propose that the Space Fest be organized in February; this would give us more time to create greater employment opportunities and foster a robust ecosystem for the space sector. Our objective is to transform Maharashtra into not just a leading state in India's space sector, but a significant global space hub. The space economy holds the potential to generate opportunities worth lakhs of crores of rupees. We are striving to ensure that Maharashtra secures a substantial share of these opportunities, and all necessary steps will be taken to achieve this goal."

Anbalagan (IAS), Principal Secretary of the Industries, Investment, and Services Department, Government of Maharashtra,* unveiled the launch video for the Space Fest and expressed his support for the initiative.  He said, "Approximately 25 percent of India's systems related to aerospace, defense, and navigation are manufactured in Maharashtra. Maharashtra is the first state in the country to formulate a dedicated aerospace policy that encompasses space technology. Currently, India's space-tech sector is valued at around $8.5 to $9 billion. It is projected to reach $100 billion by 2040, presenting immense opportunities in this field. For any sector to flourish, the active participation of suitable industries, institutions, government bodies, international organizations, research and development entities, and capital is essential. 'Space Fest' is not merely a three-day event; it marks the beginning of a significant journey for Maharashtra. This initiative will foster new skills and create opportunities for young people aspiring to build careers in the space sector. It is our responsibility to provide the youth with proper guidance, offer them insights and practical experience in this field, and help them build careers within this rapidly growing industry."
